Energy Efficiency Modernization Program
Developed a large-scale effort to install energy-efficiency upgrades to approximately 15,000 homes. More than 150,000 improvements were made possible as a result of a $100 million energy and water efficiency investment.
Guaranteed savings of $6 million in the first year; $247 million over 30 years.
Water conservation measures in 15,000+ homes: low-flow toilets, bathroom & kitchen faucet aerators, and shower heads.
Energy-efficient lighting and fixture upgrades in 15,000+ homes.
Nearly 4,000 high-efficiency HVAC systems.
More than 12,000 “smart” thermostats which monitor temperature and building humidity.
Over 8,000 weatherization improvements, including insulation, weather stripping, and energy-efficient windows.
~7,800 water meters, which use the most up-to-date tools to ensure accurate measurement of water consumption and precise usage reports. In addition, the technology provides early detection of water leaks or reverse flow.
Army Project at Fort Johnson, Louisiana
Upgraded and revitalized over 3,500 housing units at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. The upgrades included new geothermal heat pumps, updated domestic water fixtures, and the installation of smart thermostats for energy conservation. In addition, HVAC upgrades were implemented to both reduce energy and provide better humidity control which further reduces building maintenance requirements. In 2024, we kicked off the third phase of geothermal upgrades and energy efficiency work. At the end of this phase, all homes, community centers, and other office and maintenance buildings will have geothermal heating and cooling, efficient lighting, and smart thermostats/energy controls to allow for predictive maintenance and improved energy management.
